Chinese Duo Wins Asian Poker Tour’s Inaugural Tag-Team Event

In the Asian Poker Tour’s first ever tag-team event, the tandem of Yau Kan Ng and Kan Yew Fatt prevailed as they dominated the last hand of the Zipang Buddy Challenge at the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau.

Yau and Kan navigated through a field of fifteen teams (thirty players) to win the first prize of HK $36,930. On the final hand, the duo had A-10 while second-placers Ricky Foo and Jacky Chow had pocket eights. However, the board dealt the pocket pair a devastating blow as it ran out A-A-K-Q-10 to give Yau and Kan aces full. Foo and Chow, however, still walked away with HK $20,000.

The Zipang Buddy Challenge was the eleventh side event at the 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau. The tournament pits teams of two against each other, with players alternating every twenty minutes or between levels.

The 2009 Asian Poker Tour Macau will be held at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau from August 12 to 23, 2009. Buy-in for the main event was set at HK $32,000 + $2,400. With play heading to Day 2, the official announced first prize is HK $3,035,000.
